Alongside her culinary work, Sherman is an exhibiting mixed-media artist. She received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from Columbia University. Her work has been featured in Cabinet Magazine, Art in America, Frieze, and Triple Canopy, and her artwork has been shown at such institutions as The Museum of Modern Art, Sculpture Center in Long Island City, and the Jewish Museum in New York City.
