Saints for All Occasions Notecards
Barbara Calamari, Sandra DiPasqua
Given as remembrances at communions, confirmations, graduations and other rites of passage, holy cards are also a widely popular—and highly collectible—form of folk art. This handsome box of twenty-four notecards features twenty-four different Catholic saints for every occasion, sentiment, and recipient: St. Joseph for Father’s Day; St. Teresa of Avila for Health; St. Casilda for Luck; and St. Francis for Teachers. On the back of each card is a brief text explaining the connections—both allegorical and visual—between the saint and his or her patronage.
Barbara Calamari is a freelance writer who has worked in film and television. Sandra DiPasqua is a graphic designer and art director. They have collaborated on Patron Saints, Holy Cards, Visions of Mary, Novena: The Power of Prayer and Holy Place: Sacred Sites in Catholicism. Both authors live in New York City.
